[Oh the way Heizou's smile brightens at that, just right around the edges because clearly he's keeping a special secret. That little admission feels like victory, and Heizou has to relish in it for a second.]

[He's still smiling as he turns his gaze down to his tea, sipping at it some more.]

I'm just happy to know you and I are friends.

[He just turns that smile back on Wanderer, warm and soft and earnest.]

I swear, you're worse than my cat.

[He says, cheeks pink.]

Smart? You know Arashi still gets stuck behind my flowerpots, right? And she can fly.

[Heizou laughs brightly at that.]

Fine fine, but Arashi's pretty smart for a cat!

She got her head stuck in a tea canister.

[Heizou tilts his head ever so slightly. Just enough to bring his face a little closer to Wanderer's.]

Just my masochism, I suppose~

[Wanderer takes a sip of his tea.]

Then you're not much like my cat at all.

[He shrugs.]

At least you suggest books.

I come with other perks, too!

Do you? [Sip] Such as buying me clothes and snacks?

[Heizou chuckles.]

My goodness. Would you rather I gave you something else~?

I'm not going to answer that, because you'll take it however you want to regardless of what I say.

You know me so well now! No wonder you were frustrated by me not being myself~

[That just makes him frown.]

That had nothing to do with it. It's just...ugh.

[His smile softens a little and he leans in just a little bit closer, angling his head in a way that Wanderer can properly look him in the eyes.]

[His tone is just as soft. There's no teasing this time, no obnoxious, playful edge to his words. Just his honest to goodness gratitude.]

I know I said it already, but it feels like you refuse to believe me, so it bears repeating. I don't often have people getting that concerned about me.
