The rest of their meal is much the same, with idle chatter and nudging each other's feet under the table. Wanderer is mildly impressed by the meal, even, though he doesn't say anything to hint at that. He just eats, and drinks, and chats with Heizou.
Soon enough they're done and heading out of the tavern.]
[These are exactly the kind of moments that Heizou feels like he needs to cherish. Wanderer is prickly after all, and he knows how easy it can be to step on a landmine with him. He's so incredibly pleased to get to share a nice meal with him in public on a romantic holiday.
He's so tempted to take Wanderer's hand in his as they walk out of the tavern.]
Of course! Now that you've had a proper meal, how high do you think we can go~?
[He does not expect the bridal carry. He lets out a little yelp of surprise before his arms are around Wanderer's neck, just in time for them to take off into the sky.
He settles down quickly enough at least, eyes bright as he lets out a little laugh.]
You really aren't much for giving warnings, are you?
[He looks so amused, giving Wanderer a little pinch to the shoulder. But then he just settles into Wanderer's hold, looking out at the view around them.]
I think so. Look at the way the light reflects off the surface of the river, how the colors in the sky and on the clouds change as the sun sets. And from up here? You can still see everyone going about their business, and the lights in their homes and along the streets starting to turn on... The whole city's getting just a bit more peaceful as the day ends.

[Just saying.
Their drinks come out, though not the sake. That'll come out with the food.]

...I'm glad. Thank you for coming here with me~

You caught me by surprise last time, you know. I'm not afraid of heights~

[Wanderer doesn't hesitate, shifting so he can just scoop Heizou in his arms in a bridal carry.]
Hold on tight. I don't want to drop you.
[And he takes off.]

Try not to squirm too much. I don't want to end up dropping you.

I guess. I do like the nights better than the day. Fewer people around. It's quieter.

Fine, fine. I'll let you have that one~
[He resettles into Wanderer's arms with a content sigh.]
...What do you find beautiful?

[Other than one he doesn't have an answer to, honestly.]

[That's a lie. It just hasn't happened in a few centuries, when he was still young and stupid enough to find the forges beautiful.]

How long has it been, then?

...centuries.
